Because I'm super nice I won't share the details of my recent vomiting bug here (you're welcome), but I do have one thing to say:
Anyone referring to the Glastonbury Festival as Glasto deserves a kick in the balls/cunt [delete as applicable] You may now carry on your way :)

Due to slight carelessness on my part, there's been a tiny mishap with Banjolina's projected life story, in the form of a quickie in Istanbul.
The background: Scott Woodhouse's son Jeremy came to stay with the Bolger family aged 15, and was shortly thereafter officially adopted by Mason. Unfortunately for Banj, she's had the hots for him since their first meeting, and is still convinced that somehow they'll end up together. Not actually possible, but what the hey, that hasn't stopped her dreaming. And so she was saving herself for the never going to happen day when he'd finally reciprocate her feelings. I'm not entirely sure where to take it now. Has she given up on her plans? Was it a one-off? Will she give up on any relationships and just devote herself to baby Beckett? Watch this (deeply riveting, I'm sure) space. So just to keep Bread happy, here are some More Words.
Never said they couldn't be about football though :) So who's going to win the World Cup? My money's on Germany. Discuss. (will that do?) Pixel babies and the Moral Majority (or get your IC out of my OOC and your OOC out of my IC)15/6/2014 Is there something in the water that's bringing out idiocy among Popmundians? Some sort of deflected World Cup Fever? No, of course not, it's just business as usual, silly me.
So, some stuff that has annoyed me recently, all with an overarching theme: telling reality from fiction. Example one: not particularly egregious as it goes, but highlights something that's pissed me off for years. A newbie asks in the Question forum for ways to boost his mood after it dropped due to groupie-related jealousy. A veteran responds by saying that said player's partner should reconsider the morals of her choices and try not to hurt him in future. So what are the problems with this? 1. It's the fucking question forum, and this doesn't answer the query of how to boost his mood, which was shitty to start with. 2. It's a moral reaction to a practical question of game mechanics. This sort of thing used to come up all the time with crime related questions. Rather than just answer the damn thing, or leave it to people who could, the self-appointed Moral Majority would take it upon themselves to lecture the player about the evils of crime/vandalism/whatever, rebuking their ingame choice to play with the tools given to them. If I had a popoeuro for every time someone posted irrelevant "if you can't do the time don't do the crime" smug bollockry in the question/development forums, I'd be bathing in jewels. You want to RP that you hate crime, think groupies are evil etc etc, fine, have at it. But have a look at where you're doing it. Is everyone else talking OOC? Then you're a fuckwit. Stop it. Example two: my old friends the pixel babies. Not a month goes by without yet another plea from some lazy bugger who can't be arsed to put in the time and effort to work on their character having kids and would rather steal other player's chars from an "orphanage" or whatever. And each time, I trot along, shout something about pixel babies not being real in reaction to their heartfelt pleas for the tragic unfulfilled lives of these 0s and 1s in an online roleplaying game, before retreating to slam my head against a brick wall. One day, people will get it! One day, there will be no orphanage requests, no abortion requests (I've got no problem with it outside the game, but the Devs would be nuts to make it an option), no "haha wouldn't random miscarriages be hilarious and fun" shit. And on that day, a mass battalion of pigs shall go flying past me as I take a day trip to Satan's Frozen Hell Icecapades. Example three: reversing the scenario, I now present the RP fail that is bringing OOC into IC. I'm not exactly a massive stickler myself (kind of difficult in the law and politics worlds, where it's impossible to discuss things properly without invoking game mechanics along the way) but even I can tell the difference between a character and the puppet master behind them. So if your character does something like, say as a totally random example, aid and abet his father in embezzling millions from a city, then you can bet that my character will have something to say about that. Repeatedly, Mason being Mason. Here's a clue for you: you RP doing bad shit, I will RP that you did bad shit. It's not OOC, I know nothing about you OOC (other than that you're really bad at distinguishing between IC and OOC), so don't try to pawn it off as that. So in summary, you are a fuckwit if you a. bring your RP into questions of game mechanics or b. try to bring irrelevant OOC bollocks into your, and more particularly my RP. Happy to help as always with these tricky dilemmas that seem to trouble people so :) |
